The Village Hall
Project

WHO ARE WE?

ADVANCING CRYSTAL BEACH (ACB) was born when a concerned group of residents came together in 2015 to form a not for profit, charitable organization.  Its mission is to work together with local residents, visitors and businesses to create infrastructure, services and events that foster community connections and cohesion.

UPDATE!  The Crystal Beach Secondary Plan has rezoned the area which could allow for the removal of the historic Fire Station 6 and be replaced with a three story building.  This would not only change the feel of our community but it would eliminate yet another opportunity to benefit our residents.  We want to preserve this building and memory of the fire fighter volunteers who have given so much to the community.

and let the Town of Fort Erie know that you agree we need more community support and that keeping FS6 in our town is of historical importance to its residents.

THE VILLAGE HALL

A SOCIAL GATHERING & RECREATION CENTRE

ACB’s BIG IDEA is to purchase and renovate Fire Station 6 on Ridgeway Road in Crystal Beach which will be vacated in the Spring of 2022.  ACB wishes to convert FS6 into The Village Hall, a social gathering and recreation centre, a community meeting place open to everyone throughout Fort Erie for recreation, information and social connection.

A brief survey was conducted in June 2021 to determine residents’ interest in the proposed Village Hall.  Responses were solicited from Fort Erie residents via Facebook, Instagram and email as well as hard copies available at the Crystal Beach Tourism Info Booth and local businesses.

The majority of over 400 enthusiastic respondents are in favour of social events, fitness classes and activities for adults and seniors.

The Hall will offer activities for different age groups and abilities – or anyone just looking for social interaction.  There will be exhibits by local artists, a display of artifacts from Crystal Beach’s rich history, and documentation of the outstanding work of the Fort Erie Fire Station 6.

The following is a list of activities planned for The Village Hall:

The Town of Fort Erie’s ongoing support is much appreciated and vital to enriching the lives of our residents and the vitality of our community.  Our vision is ambitious:  we want to include opportunities such as offering hands-on appliance repair and education and the implementation of a bike repair shop can be paired up with the option for renting bikes so that people can explore the area more easily. We also want the centre to retain the spirit and structure of the original Fire Station 6 with tributes to its and our community’s past. This way we can celebrate our history while bringing our present and future together.

This large project and important undertaking requires direct support from our community.
