Orma Bleeks was employed in hospitals and in the community working with people with long term mental illness, substance abuse and acquired brain injury for 40 years in the GTA.  She came to Niagara one snowy April day in 2000 looking for a safe, sandy beach for her grandchildren and fell in love with Crystal Beach.  She moved to her cottage year round in 2007 and has enjoyed her retirement ever since, especially as a beach bum.

CHERYL KENNEDY

Director

My passion is being involved in a community where I live or somewhere in the world.  I have been involved with Amnesty International advocating for human rights as well as the We Charity, empowering youth to enhance their understanding of the global water crisis.  I have traveled to South America to build new homes and helped in a water-stressed area.  My next trip is to the Philippines.  For ten years I taught Indigenous Studies while earning a Specialist in Reconciliation and Calls to Action / Indigenous Perceptive.  I continue taking courses to honour our Aboriginal people and sharing my knowledge.  This is my call to action.  After 30 years of teaching Secondary School, I retired to the beautiful, small town of Crystal Beach.
